This Might Be the Most L.A. Car Pursue Ever: Doughnuts, Selfies, a TMZ Tour Bus and Celebrity Reactions
The insane L.A. traffic couldn’t even slow down this bizarre car pursue! A convertible with its top down performed doughnuts on Sunset Boulevard, cruised by the Hollywood Walk of Fame, had a close call with a TMZ tour bus and ended peacefully with selfies and hugs after almost two hours on Thursday, April 7.
Authorities arrested two burglary suspects after pursuing the dudes from the Cerritos neighborhood onto freeways, into Hollywood and eventually to South L.A. The driver was identified as Herschel Reynolds, 20, and his passenger was Isaiah Youthful, Nineteen, according to the L.A. Times.
The L.A. car pursue
The rainy-day escapades began with a report of a residential burglary in Cerritos at 1:24 p.m. The burglars fled before police arrived at the scene, but neighbors were able to identify their getaway vehicle, a blue Ford Mustang convertible. Since the roads were too moist and dangerous from the strenuous rain for a car pursuit, authorities used a sheriff’s helicopter to locate and go after the vehicle. Just minutes after they received the description, the helicopter located the car speeding and weaving on the westbound ninety one Freeway.
After the Mustang rear-ended one vehicle and a passenger stood up and swinged to other drivers, the car got off at Sunset Boulevard, and the California Highway Patrol took up the pursue. Once the convertible got to Sunset and there were no police in glance, the driver began doing doughnuts in the middle of the street across numerous lanes of traffic. Then, the burglars headed for tourist-filled Hollywood Boulevard, where they drove the wrong way down the street, passed the Hollywood Walk of Fame and TCL Chinese Theatre and flashed the peace sign to pedestrians.

After a joyride through the Hollywood Hills, the Mustang headed back to the freeway, where it had a close call with a TMZ tour bus, which cut off the vehicle as it attempted to switch lanes. Evidently one of the suspects also threw a hamburger at the bus.
“We’ve spoken to the [bus] driver … who says he never even eyed the pursue coming behind him,” TMZ said. “He was innocently switching lanes and ended up cutting off the suspects.”
The sports car then sped onto Figueroa Street near the University of Southern California campus, where cops attempted laying down spike strips to puncture the tires. The car’s front right tire was eventually ruined, which slowed the car down by the time it reached 51st Street and Central Avenue at Trio:30 p.m. The two suspects were met by a group of bystanders and after hugging, high-fiving and taking selfies with the crowd, the boys surrendered to authorities.
Even celebs were getting in on the act. Chrissy Teigen gave fans live commentary of the crazy pursue on Snapchat and Instagram.
