‘It’s very tragic’: police investigate cliff crash death

A 52-year-old Paradise Point man has died after his car went off a cliff at Moffat Beach.
Inspector Jason Overland said police were still continuing to investigate the tragic crash which occurred just before 3pm on Wednesday.

“A vehicle has driven off the end of McIllwraith Street and ended up on the cliff below us here,” he said.
“A masculine person is deceased as a consequence of that act.
“Investigations are still continuing, however at this point it would emerge that the vehicle has gone over the headland without any skidmarks.
Insp Overland asked that anyone needing somebody to talk to contact support services.
“We ask that if anyone feels depressed they contact Beyond Blue,” he said.

A MAN has died, after his car plummeted off a cliff at Moffat Beach.
At about 3pm, emergency services were called to the scene and a rescue chopper was called to assist.

The chopper was later stood down and the man pronounced dead.
Reports indicate the vehicle was in the McIllwraith St and Queen of Colonies Pde area when it went straight through a barricade and over the cliff.
The man had to be liquidated from the car by firefighters who helped to perform CPR.
Police evacuated the beach.
Wedding photographer Lou O’Brien arrived at the scene to do an engagement photo shoot with a duo shortly after the crash.

She was shocked to see the wreckage.
“That was where we were going for our photo shoot,” Mrs O’Brien said.
She said surf lifesavers arrived on jet skis and drove down the beach in utes to the scene.
