Sources: Police looking at SUV in connection with deadly hit-and – WFSB three Connecticut
The wifey of the man, whose SUV is under investigation in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in Middletown, spoke on out on Friday.
Barbara Eddinger, 61, was killed in front of her mail box on Chamberlain Road on March 31, according to police.
Sources told Eyewitness News that police received a phone peak from a person in the area, who ordered food last Thursday. Sources said the caller reported a jumpy delivery driver displaying up.
The caller told police that the driver was “jittery” and had been driving a dark-colored SUV that appeared to be similar to the one described in the hit-and-run incident last week.

Middletown resident Mary Demoranville said she and her spouse own that SUV.
«There’s no harm to the front of the vehicle,» Demoranville said to Eyewitness News on Friday.
Demoranville told Eyewitness News that she and her hubby supply Chinese food. She said he was in the area but not at the same time Eddinger was involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash.
«He had a delivery up on Elizabeth Lane and the order came in about one thousand one hundred thirty a.m., one thousand one hundred forty five a.m.,» Demoranville said. «We took the order up a little after twelve p.m., maybe 12:Legal p.m., 12:20 p.m.
Sources said police contacted the food business, which said that the driver uses his own Jeep to make deliveries.
The vehicle has reportedly been at the Middletown Police Department for a duo of days now after police found it on Saybrook Road this week.
Police confirmed that they had a dark blue SUV in their custody. As of Friday, they called it a “vehicle of interest.”
“We have not confirmed nor ruled out that it was involved in the accident,” police said in a news release.
Demoranville said she doesn`t think her spouse hit Eddinger.
«You’re talking about a man who at two in the morning, notices his cat is gone and starts weeping and freaking out,» Demoranville said.
Demoranville said her hubby didn’t do anything wrong.
«I would have known if he was jiggling,» Demoranville said. “He can’t hide anything from me, which is sad to say, but he can’t. I know just by looking in his eyes. I’ve known him for nine years. You get to know a person very well.”
After local police searched it, state police were said to be performing forensics. Sources said the SUV did not show up to have much harm to it.
Investigators said no debris was left at the scene. They said usually there’s a tail light or some lump of the vehicle that can be traced.
Police said the holder has been cooperating.
“Because we have not confirmed what vehicle was involved in the accident or who the operator was, we are still asking for the public to come forward with any and all information,” they said.
The family of the victim said they are choosing to honor her memory. Barbara or Bobbi as many people called her was known across this community.
“My mother in law was known by so many different people,” Kelly Eddinger, victim’s daughter-in-law, said.
Eddinger possessed a gardening business in Middletown.
“We are a big strong family. Bobbi, mum, my mother-in-law had five sons and we are all very close,” Kelly Eddinger said. “If it’s even possible, this brought us closer. She was our glue, but we are all picking up chunks of her.”
Kelly Eddinger opened the shop on Friday and said she is keeping her memory alive.
“Each of these baskets she made with her two arms. So when I come in here, she’s not here, but she is still here,” Kelly Eddinger said. “I see her in all of this work.”
On Friday, Kelly Eddinger said those who did not know Bobbi, knew her work.
«Every spring, summer and fall, my mother-in-law would go in and plant Main Street planters,» Kelly Eddinger said. «She had the best design, had such a creative eye for it.»
The Eddinger family said they plan to plant flowers in these planters next week.
Kelly Eddinger was scheduled to run a half-marathon in Middletown three days after Bobbi was killed. The race, which is a half-marathon and 4-mile race, was postponed on April Four, due to the weather. It’s rescheduled for April 24. To register for the race, click here.
However, Kelly Eddinger said the run now has even more meaning.
«My mourning and my peace will be my faith, and being with my family and staying Eddinger Strong, Kelly Eddinger said.
