Spec comparison: Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza vs Hyundai Creta

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza took the automobile industry with storm since its launch on March 8. The Vitara Brezza was also the most talked about car at the Auto Expo 2016, with the company claiming more than 20,000 bookings and around 70,000 enquiries for the car within a fortnight of its launch.

But, Vitara Brezza is not the only car that took the market by storm. Providing stiff competition to the Vitara Brezza will be the Indian Car of the Year Hyundai Creta which has also managed a sale of around 56,000 units with more than a lakh bookings still to be fulfilled.

Here we compare Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Creta to let you determine which one fares better on paper.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza comes powered with only a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder, DDIS diesel engine churning out maximum power output of 88bhp @4000rpm and maximum torque of 200Nm @1750rpm, mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

Hyundai Creta on the other mitt comes with three engine options – a 1.6-litre dual VTVT petrol engine, a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine and a 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine.

The 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder Dual VTVT petrol engine will give a total power output of one hundred twenty four bhp @6400rpm and 154Nm @4850rpm of maximum torque. The 1.4litre U2 CRDi diesel engine gives a total power output of eighty nine bhp @4000rpm and maximum torque of 224Nm @1500rpm, while the 1.6litre CRDi diesel engine gives a maximum power output of one hundred twenty six bhp @4000rpm and total torque of 265Nm @1900rpm. Hyundai is suggesting two transmissions: six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza comes in seven variants- LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi, ZDi+ and ZDi+ Dual Tone.

Hyundai Creta comes in six variants- L, S, S+, SX, SX+ and SX(O).

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza comes with a wheelbase of 2500mm and will be 3995mm in length, 1790mm in width and 1640mm in height. The ground clearance of the Vitara Brezza is 198mm.

The Hyundai Creta has a wheelbase of 2590mm, with length of 4270mm, width of 1780mm, length of 1630mm and ground clearance of 201mm.

The Vitara Brezza features a fresh boxy design with an aggressively styled front fascia. The slightly-sloping roof-line adds to the character of the car making it look like a blend of a compact SUV and a hatchback, in the best manner possible. The design looks fresh, and nothing like anything available in the Indian market presently.

Hyundai Creta portrays strong road presence and ideally embodies the aggressive stance of an SUV in its own style. The triple slat chrome radiator grille makes a bold design statement while the sleekly creased spandex hood, lines projector headlamps integrated with LED positioning lamps, vertical fog lamps, sporty stylish skid plate and dual tone front bumper enhance the vehicle’s stylish and distinctive SUV character.
